All our clinics are designed to help any rider who really cares about their horse to develop a relationship based on trust and communication while also giving them efficient and effective ways to school their horses, even to the very highest levels, without resorting to violence or coercion.

In addition to riding and training based on old French classical principles, our work on the ground is strongly influenced by Kelly Marks’ Intelligent Horsemanship approach.

So, whether you're looking to give your horse the best possible start in life, resolve difficulties in your current riding and training or even learn how to take your horse to piaffe and passage, flying changes and canter pirouettes, we can help you:

• Holistic Problem Solving Clinics, with Derek and Jo Clark:
  If your horse bucks, bites, rears, doesn’t like the bit, won’t go forward, rushes, runs off, bolts, motorbikes round corners, reists, won’t canter or generally just doesn’t seem to be enjoying his life then this is the clinic for you. Holistic Equitation Centre’s founders, Derek & Jo will look at each aspect of you and your horse in order to get to the root of your problems and give you advice and techniques to help you create the horse you've always dreamed of.

• Philippe Karl Demystified, with Derek Clark:
  As one of the select group of instructors currently training with Philippe Karl in person, Derek’s unusual background as a professional coach and sports psychology expert makes this the ideal clinic for anyone who has read Philippe’s books, seen his DVDs or maybe even attended a clinic but is still struggling to put his methods into practice with their own horse. As a Master Practitioner and Trainer of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), Derek is known for his ability to break complex skills down into manageable chunks and help riders of any standard or background overcome the challenges of riding and training even the most difficult or sensitive horses.

• Specilised clinics in Therapeutic Lunging and Work In-Hand, with Derek and Jo:
  These clinics focus on the techniques which, as well as being great (and classical!) ways to start a horse and establish the aids and movements on the ground, are also some of the key tools we use to rehabilitate and develop the more challenging horses who come to us for help. Each clinic covers the essential theory behind the methods as well as the practical coaching you will need to put these methods into practice safely and effectively with your own horse.

  Participants (theory & practical coaching): £250
  Spectators (theory only): £125



Fees listed above include: Livery for your horse or hire of our school horses, refreshments at break times and lunch on both days. Riders are also entitled to spectate during all other lessons over the course of the clinic.

Derek and Jo are available for evening/weekend talks and lecture-demo’s at your riding club or yard.
